After having three kids one after another, I knew I had to do something about the extra pounds on my 5’5 frame. I had to lose weight.
I tried the cider vinegar diet, lucre soup diet, and Atkins. I did lose weight on all of these but the conditions were unacceptable after a short period of time. You shouldn’t have to feel deprived to lose weight. In reality, a sure fire way to guarantee weight loss failure is to limit your food groups or eat only one kind of food. There are exceptions to the rule, I know. Some people fare true right on those types of weight loss plans and they lose weight. Most of us do not.
I put together my grant deal and followed it plain carefully. I did lose weight. It took about a year, but I lost over 80 lbs! The best part was that I didn’t just lose weight, I added muscle.
I got up every morning at 6 am. I fed the baby, she went to sleep and by 6: 30 I was working out. To inception with, I used a beginner’s exercise video every day, alternating between two different tapes. The best way to lose weight was to keep it from being boring. After a few weeks, I moved up to more challenging videos. I started using a step and eventually I had to raise it.
Throughout the day, I ate 5 to 6 times. My overall calorie intake ranged from 1200 to 1500 calories each day. I took the kids to the playground and played around with them. We went for a long walk. I would strap my baby to my chest and push the contrasting two in a stroller. I did my housework. I danced around the living room, sometimes with a toddler on each hip.
I worked out every evening. On alternating days, I would take a brisk half hour walk or “Sweat to the Oldies” or I would do calisthenics and use free weights, progressing upward from 1 lb weights to 5. It wasn’t long until 5 lb. weights were too easy to lift, so I greater repetitions and bought more challenging videos.
I infrequently got on the succession. I was amazed at how often I would erect on a pair of jeans only to find that I needed a smaller size. Mid way through, I purchased a pair of motivational jeans in the size I wanted to be. One fine day, I pulled them on and zipped them up. It felt great!
If you are trying to lose weight, get active and eat small meals several times a day. Introduce your calories. It works. Until I got serious about it, I had not been thin since 2nd grade. If a life long chubby like me can lose weight, so can you.
